Tomas van der Noot was born in Brabant and he became a successful military officer who entered Swedish service in the 1650s. He married a daughter to a rich merchant, got enobled and comissioned the building of the palace in the early 1670s. Let your group listen to a lecture, have Swedish fika and attend a guided tour of the palace.
During the 17th century, the Netherlands was Europe’s leading trading nation and several Dutch merchants made fortunes in the trade with Sweden. New fortunes were manifested in grand palaces and manor houses. Listen to an insightful lecture on the builders, architects, and the historical destinies of these palaces over the past 400 years. The lecture can take place in the Van der Noot Palace and after the lecture we will walk by 4 other palaces.
Louis De Geer began his career as a merchant in Dordrecht and In 1627 he came to Sweden to manage his growing business empire. As a financier to the Swedish king he quickly obtained royal privileges covering a wide range of industries. He equipped the Swedish army that invaded Germany in 1630 (about 35,000 men). In 1641 he was granted Swedish nobility which finally gave him the full right to own property in Sweden. We provide a lecture about his life in Sweden and arrange guided tours to the families iron works in northern Uppland.

In Stockholm you will find a lot of paintings from the Dutch Golden Age. Our guide will show you the way to som of them. To the left you find "The Conspiracy of Claudius Civilis" which Rembrandt originally pain-ted to the new city hall in Amsterdam. It is consi-dered to be the most valuable painting in Sweden.
In Sweden and mainly in churches in the lake Mälaren provinces, there is a remarkable number of Netherlandish altarpieces from the late 15th and early 16th centuries. Almost 30 can be found here and 10 in the rest of Sweden. 18 comes from Brussels, 22 from Antwerp and one from Mechelen. Upon request we arrange tours to some of the most magnificent ones.
