The Legacy of the Family de Geer

Louis De Geer began his career as a merchant in Dordrecht and In 1627 he came to Sweden to manage his growing business empire. As a financier to the Swedish king he quickly obtained royal privileges covering a wide range of industries. He equipped the Swedish army that invaded Germany in 1630 (about 35,000 men). In 1641 he was granted  Swedish nobility which finally gave him the full right to own property in Sweden. We provide a lecture about his life in Sweden and arrange guided tours to the families iron works in northern Uppland.
